Pez predictions (almost)come true as Valverde, Bettini and Barry figured in the final sprint in the Elite Mens Road Race. In our Oct 5 article, Pez reported that Johan Museeuw tipped Valverde, Bettini, Freire, and Bruytlands, as favourites with Hincapie possible depending on his form. It was Germany 2, Holland 3 in the Junior Women’s and Men U-23 Time Trials today. The races were run under sunny skies and seasonably warm temperatures. Racing began with the first woman departing the ramp at 11:00 local time.

The World Cycling Championships got underway this morning beneath sunny skies with a two-hour training session on the long TT course. It was a cool 2 degrees Celsius (just above freezing) and most of the riders were wearing gloves, winter hats and booties.
