GIRO’21 Stage 8: Break King Lafay!

Saturday is a good day for the break to go all the way to the finish, and to day the escape men had their dream come true. A group of nine held the peloton at 5 minutes to the base of the final climb. The attacks soon came, but it was Victor Lafay who won the stage for the Cofidis team. Francesco Gavazzi was second. Attila Valter kept his pink jersey.

Best Of GIRO Roadside: Sausages In Sestola!

The Giro d'Italia is more than just a race, it's a way of life, maybe for just one day, but it will be a day to remember. In 2016 the Giro came to Emilia, crossing the Apennines “Tosco-emiliani” one of the most deserted regions in Italy; full of forests and lonely mountains. PEZ-Man Alessandro was roadside for the sausages, panini, and borlengo...

GIRO’21 Stage 7: Long Sprint for Caleb’s Second

At the end of a long and technical sprint it was Caleb Ewan who won stage 7 by a bike length from David Cimolai (Israel Start-up Nation). The sprint had been opened up by UAE Team Emirates' Fernando Gaviria who took an early flyer, but the Australian had speed on his side. Attila Valter (Groupama-FDJ) held the overall lead.

Specialized HyprViz Jersey Review: Go With the Fluo

PEZ reviews high visibility cycling clothing including the Specialized HyprViz jersey, bibshorts, long gloves, and over-socks.  Some die hard roadies eschew hi-viz kit because it's not perceived as very pro and fluorescent yellow is more often associated with commuters rather than racers. But this new gear from the Big S might change your mind...

PEZ Bookshelf: Maglia Rosa – Triumph and Tragedy at the Giro d’Italia

The PEZ Alternative Giro d’Italia A To Z!

It's a sad time for Ed Hood, he should be in Italy for the Giro, but... As the 2021 Giro d'Italia starts later today, Ed has had his Giro photo album out to compile his personal 'Alternative A to Z' of the Italian Grand Tour. We love the Giro and Ed knows the race better than most, take note of his (near) complete guide to everything Giro.

PEZ Bookshelf: Bespoke: A Guide to Cycle-Speak & Saddle Slang

For someone just coming into the world of cyclesports, the terminology, concepts and history can perhaps be baffling. How can you win the Tour de France without winning a single stage? Who was the Eagle of Toledo? What is the Cima Coppi? When you ride tempo up the Alpe and the elastic snaps, does the Man With the Hammer come? Thanks to a lovely little book by Tom Bromley, all will be made clear.

Viktor Rants: Spring Sprints Suck, Aging Riders, E-Bikes & More

Ed Hood has been in conversation with (lectured to) cycling's Nostradamus - Viktor. He's not impressed with the finals of Milan-Sanremo, Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, comes down hard on the older riders and Sky's ex doctor, plus the price of bikes these days!

Searching for the Truth: Liège-Bastogne-Liège

It isn't far from Limburg in Holland for the Amstel Gold Race to Liège in the Wallonia region of Belgium (Berg en Terblijt is about 37km) for Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Peter Easton knows the region well, so who better to pass on his experience of La Doyenne.

Malcolm Elliott Talks Amstel ’87!

Twenty years before the multi-million pound Sky Team rode the WorldTour, there was another 'ground breaking' British team that took on the Continentals in their own back-yard. The ANC team had its eventual problems, but it showed what was possible. One high point was Malcolm Elliott's 3rd place in the 1987 Amstel Gold Race.
