Breaking News: As the world of cycling continues to be impacted by the effects of the worldwide spread of coronavirus, Sea Otter Classic President Frank Yohannan today announced the rescheduling of April’s Sea Otter Classic and Bicycle Leadership conference. This follows the announcement earlier today of the postponement of Strade Bianche in Italy, plus the withdrawal of several top teams from many of the seasons most important races.
The Sea Otter Classic
, scheduled to run April 16 – 19 2020, in Monterey CA, is poised to become North America’s most important bicycle trade show for competitive riders – built around a full slate of racing for both road, mountain and adventure riders. It’s outdoor expo has grown considerably in recent years, and with the demise of Interbike in 2019, is well positioned to take over as a key event for brands looking for early season coverage of new and existing gear.
Here’s the official announcement received at PEZ just moments ago:
Sea Otter Classic Supporters,
After a thorough review of the coronavirus threat, we’ve decided to reschedule April’s Sea Otter Classic. Additionally, People for Bikes and Sea Otter Classic will reschedule the Bicycle Leadership Conference.
We are coordinating with local authorities to determine the best dates to host the 2020 Sea Otter Classic and Bicycle Leadership Conference. We anticipate announcing those dates by the middle of next week.
Information regarding registration refunds and rollovers will be posted on our website once the new dates have been finalized.
Thank you again for your understanding and support during these challenging times.

I for one, was really looking forward to Sea Otter – it’s a great chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues in cycling as we pull out of the winter months, and look forward to a great season of riding ahead.
We’ll keep you posted on news as it develops, and hopefully know the new dates soon.
