Blanco Pro Cycling Team will enter a mix of riders in the Tour of Switzerland, which will start this Saturday. Several of the men come in with their legs still strong from the Giro d’Italia together with several riders who will be preparing for the Tour de France.
Blanco has a classification rider in Bauke Mollema who will look to confirm his form following his altitude training. “It is a difficult tour, one for the climbers, with a challenging time trial and in Bauke we have a rider who wants to perform well in the GC”, according to Sports Director Jan Boven. Wilco Kelderman and Steven Kruijswijk are coming in from the Giro and would like to use their built up form to race aggressively in the Swiss mountains. “I already identified a few attractive arrivals for those guys”, said Boven.
Kruijswijk has won a stage in the Tour de Suisse. In 2011, he finished first in Malbun when the peloton made a detour to Lichtenstein. In the final classification he was respectively third and eighth in the last two versions. “This tour is well suited to me”, according to the Dutchman. “I think it’s a wonderful race. I did not exit the Giro completely fit and needed a week to recover, but in the meantime, I am riding very well once again. After a grand tour, it can go one of two ways. I hope I can find my good form back and then we’ll see what’s possible on a daily basis. I’m certainly not the type of rider who would dismiss the importance of riding a good classification.”
The Tour of Switzerland runs from the Saturday 8th until the 16th of June.
