Jeroboam Bike Festival dates fixed for September 22-23
Registrations for Europe’s most awesome all-road/gravel ride, the Jeroboam 300 Challenge, are open. The ride is the centerpiece of the Jeroboam Bike Festival in Italy’s fabulous Franciacorta wine region in the foothills of the Alps. 3T is the presenting partner.
The Jeroboam Bike Festival is a great weekend for all in the hospitable community of Erbusco (Brescia) – a feast of fun, food, wine, entertainment, two road and two all-road/gravel rides. In 2018, the Festival will take place September 22-23. The rides range from a fun family ride to our signature Jeroboam 300 Challenge for the toughest riders.
The Festival kicks off on Saturday with the start of the Jeroboam 300 Challenge, with participants expected back at the finish some time on Sunday. Why Jeroboam? Because the course spans 300km and the largest bottle offered by Franciacorta’s celebrated wine makers is called the Jeroboam and holds 300 cl (equivalent to four standard bottles).
Starting in Erbusco, the route takes you through the vineyards on the southern shores of Lago d’Iseo and forges eastward as far as the banks of Lago di Garda through the wild valleys that separate the provinces of Lombardy and Trentino, before turning back to race HQ. We’ve listened to last year’s participants and added more gravel and other unpaved roads, so the new course is truly all-road and covers 30% paved and 70% unpaved roads (gravel, dirt and ‘indefinable’).
All-road enthusiasts not quite ready to tackle the Jeroboam can participate in the popular Standard 75 Ride, which as the name suggests is 75km long, covers some of the same gravel and dirt roads and is certainly no less scenic.
Those preferring to stay on paved roads can opt for the Magnum 150 Strada, which showcases 150km of the most beautiful roads in the area. Those new to the sport and those looking for a nice family outing can participate in the Demi 37.5 Social, a relaxed ride including a few culinary stops.
Aside from the rides, the Jeroboam Bike Festival features local cuisine, wines, music, and entertainment for adults and children alike in the delightful community of Erbusco, the very heart of Franciacorta’s world-renowned viticulture.
Early-bird registration is now open until April 10, so take advantage of the € 29,90 entry fee while it lasts. For international travelers, the Jeroboam Bike Festival HQ in Erbusco is easily accessible from Bergamo’s Orio Al Serio Airport (BGY). Accommodation in the region is plentiful and of a high standard, affording a warm welcome to this wonderful region of Italy.
