fizik Honors the Cobbled Classics with their new Les Classiques Road Shoe and Limited-Edition Print
Performance-ready for the pavé, an all-around road cycling shoe inspired by the Cobbled Classics
In honor of the Cobbled Classics and the bold riders who accept their challenge, fizik presents the new Les Classiques Tempo Overcurve R4 road shoes and limited-edition artist print.
Engineered to perform on the pavé, the new Les Classiques deliver power from the ground up with the Tempo Overcurve R4 shoes. Built around a moderately stiff R4 outsole to strike a balance between comfort and pedaling efficiency, these versatile road shoes utilize an asymmetrical “Overcurve” collar to follow the foot’s natural shape and a micro-adjustable BOA® IP1 dial for easy, secure adjustments, no matter how tough the terrain.
Honoring the heroes crowned on the cobbles, the new Les Classiques edition Tempo Overcurve R4 road shoes display a distinctive aesthetic inspired by the mud, sweat and dust emblematic of cycling’s toughest single-day races, providing an exciting choice for fans of the Classics and any rider ready to answer the call of the cobbles.
Furthering Les Classiques, fizik has partnered with famed Italian printing house, Tipoteca Italiana, to release a limited-edition artist print honoring the heroic riders from some of cycling’s most storied races.
Beyond producing prints, Tipoteca Italiana serves as a museum and archive, educating visitors and preserving the tradition of classic printing techniques, making them an ideal partner for fizik’s homage to the history of the revered Cobbled Classics. Letterpress-printed in stark relief, “The Call of the Cobbles” presents a simple call to action to riders ready for the rough stuff.

Santini Launches New Capsule Collection Dedicated to Vincenzo Nibali, The Shark of Messina
Italy’s top stage racing cyclist has added his name to a collection that tells his story and references the colors of his native Sicily, his victories in the big three Grand Tours and his nickname of The Shark. This soberly elegant capsule line comprises jersey, bib shorts, base layer, gloves, cap and socks inspired by Nibali who worked closely with the Santini Cycling Wear designers from the first sketches.
Fans of Vincenzo Nibali now have yet another way of displaying their admiration for the legendary Shark of Messina. The new capsule collection that Santini has dedicated to the Sicilian Team Trek-Segafredo team member is inspired by his personal story and his native island. The result is a complete line that brilliantly encapsulates the very essence of the man and the athlete.
“We created a logo using his name as a starting point with a stylized A that looks like a shark fin breaking the surface of the water, which is exactly the gesture Nibali makes when he is first across the finish-line,” continues Fergus Niland, the Irish head of graphic design development at Santini Cycling Wear. “The shark motif is on every item in the collection as it is both the Sicilian cyclist’s nickname and his signature.”
Fergus Niland also used a three-colored parallel line design in pink, yellow and red to reference the Sicilian’s wins in the three biggest stage races: the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and La Vuelta. The middle back pocket and the inside of the collar on the jersey are in the red and yellow of the Sicilian flag too, a colorful detail also picked up in the coordinating cap.
The capsule collection comprises a jersey, bib shorts, jersey, base layer, gloves, cap and socks: “With the exception of the cap and the socks, all the items have a deep blue background reminiscent of the main color of the sea around Messina, as Vincenzo himself talked to us about that right from our first meetings,” says Fergus.
On a more technical level, the front of the jersey is in polyester microfiber while the back is made from a micromesh that provides a high level of UV protection (Factor +30). Raw-cut sleeves and three back pockets plus a small zipped pocket complete the picture. Designed for the kind of blisteringly high temperatures cyclists encounter in the likes of Sicily, the jersey is ultralight just like the coordinating micromesh base layer. The bib shorts too are exceptionally breathable with Delta mesh braces. They also include the GITevo chamois specially designed for superior comfort in the saddle, thanks to a Twist Gel core crafted using Santini’s signature carving process which creates different thicknesses without any need for stitching or gluing. The result is a lighter, softer, more elastic product that is also superbly breathable.
The children’s version of the Nibali jersey is available from mid-May from the www.santinicycling.com website.
