The Hammerhead’s Ball: You’re Invited!
The unofficial kickoff to the biggest race on the west coast – the Hammerhead’s Ball in San Francisco must not be missed! Organized by the film maker who brought us “The Tour Baby” (critically acclaimed by us!), this is your chance to hobnob near Knob Hill, see the film, par-taaay! and help raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The HAMMERHEAD’S BALL Is: A Lance Armstrong Foundation Benefit Dinner, Silent Auction, and Party
Two nights before what’s been described as “America’s most grueling bike race” the men and women who will take on Sunday’s challenging T-Mobile International are coming to dinner and party in North Beach. Dede Demet Barry, silver medalist, two time world road racing champion, and powerhouse of T-Mobile women’s cycling team, will be there to show off her shiny new Olympic medal. The guest list of cycling celebrities includes racers, directors, coaches, and commentators. As soon as racers and others confirm their attendance, we’ll let you know.
After dinner adjourn for a private screening of The Tour Baby, the hilarious and inspiring film about one man’s love affair with the Tour de France. Filmmaker Scott Coady will be on hand before and after the one hour show. (Read our Review here.)
Then at 10 pm the funk begins as the doors open for the Hammerhead’s Ball with two DJs and no-host bar. The main room will feature the latest Deep House, NeoDisco and Hip Hop dance mixes, club and sportswear fashions modeled by the GoGo Pro Dancers, and digital media extravaganza featuring digital, multimedia shows of this year’s Tour de France and unedited video from Scott Coady’s Paris-Roubaix adventures and the 2002 San Francisco Grand Prix.
Upstairs in the Hincapie Sportswear VIP Lounge you can chill with pro cyclists and cycling celebrities.
Frankly, we don’t know at this moment who’s going to show up, but we can promise cycling names from around the world. And as soon as we know, we’ll tell you.
