GIRO Stage 12: Petacchi Again!

A long day in the saddle from Cesena to Treviso of 210 kilometers, not much difficulty, another day for the sprinters. Fassa Bortolo were in charge, as usual for sprint king Alessandro Petacchi, all moves were reeled in for the final.

Gert Steegmans of Lotto-Domo tried his luck early on in the stage, but with 10 kilometers to the line it was Fassa Botolo doing all the work. 5 kilometers out Domina Vacanza and Lotto-Domo started to sort things out for their men. McEwen was shoving and pushing as usual. Brad McGee (FdeJ.com) lead it out, Zanotti crashed badly and Petacchi jumped with McEwen on his wheel and that’s the way it stayed to the line at a speed of over 70 kilometers per hour.

Nothing changed on the overall, the young boy Cunego still leads from team-leader?? Simoni. Tomorrow’s time trial will sort things out over the 52 kilometers.

With not much to report on to day I can tell you about “BIG TEX”, reported in my local newspaper (Information) was news of Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow going shopping together in Gerona, nice photo of the couple, Jan will be hoping Sheryl’s forgotten her credit card and Lance has to miss training for more shopping!
