It’s Petacchi Again In The Vuelta Aragуn

To-day was a day of not much going on, ibanesto.com defended, the smaller teams tried to show something and Fassa Bortolo lead Alessandro Petacchi out for the sprint.

An escape of 13 riders went early, at 5 kilometres, they hung infront of the bunch for 30 kilometres, when the bunch caught them, they were replaced by Francesco Cerezo (Labarca 2), who managed to stay out front on his own until Astarloza (AG2R) and Perez (Cofidis) crossed to him with 26 kilometres to the finish in Borja, they were all back together with 10 to go, and looking good for the sprinters.

Apart from a failed attack by Lopez de Munian (Euskaltel) and Garcia Calvo (Labarca 2), in the last 5 kilometres, it was going to be the remaining 96 of the 108 riders still in the race contesting the gallop, up poped Alessandro Petacchi to take his second stage victory in this race.

As usual ibanesto.com defended Leonardo Piepoli’s overall lead, tomorrow should be the same, the last stage starts at the Relax bed factory in La Muela and finishes in Zaragoza 169 kilometres later. No hills worth a mention, Petacchi again?? On the other hand Spain is looking for Oscar Freire at the Amstel Gold tomorrow.
