Cancelled: Trofeo dello Scalatore

RCS Sport: “There needs to be a pause for reflection”
Through a press release that was issued this morning, RCS Sport has made it known that they will not be organizing the Trofeo dello Scalatore: “RCS Sport, read the release, at the finish of the Giro d’Italia, has evaluated all of the interests of this race, looking at many different aspects. Therefore, in this moment, we need to have a period of reflection before continuing the organization of our races. We have decided to suspend
the 16th edition of the Trofeo dello Scalatore, set to take place from August 27th to the 29th, 2002”.
In light of the cancellation of the race, it would appaer that the largest problems facing the race had been finding adequate sponsorship.
