Heras Takes Over For US Postal In Catalunya

In to-days mountain time trial of 10,8 kilometres, Roberto Heras, the Spanish rider for US Postal, took the overall lead from team mate Hincapie in the Volta a Catalunya.

Aitor Garmendia (Coast) won the stage by 6 seconds from Heras, but it was not good enough to take the lead as Heras was still in front by 15 seconds. Raimundas Rumsas (Lampre) was third and has moved himself into third overall. Other danger men have moved themselves onto contention, Piepoli (ibanesto.com) was 5th. on the stage & Escartin (Coast) has moved up to 5th. overall.

tomorrow’s stage was to be the Queen of stages, 197,3 kilometres & three first cat climbs on the way to Andorra, but a national strike has caused it to be cancelled or possibly cut short, there will be no TV coverage or reports on the race plus the riders want to be in solidarity with the workers, so no race! See you on Friday.
