Heras Keeps Overall In Volta a Catalunya

After yesterdays shortend stage of 52 kilometres, kept inside the borders of Andorra, was won by Garrido (Jazztel) from Perez & Escartin of Coast. All was the same overall except the big loser of the day, Rumsas (Lampre), who droped from 3rd. to 11th.

To-day back to work as normal,141,3 kilometres from Andorra to Llivia. A break of four develped on the first climb, La Massella, with Cuesta (Cofidis), Maestre (Relax) and Guillmon & Torrent both of Jazztel, they reached an advantage of 2:16 at one point, but it was doomed as US Postal chased hard behind. Flecha (ibanesto.com) and Parra (ONCE) jumped away and caught three of the break away, except Maestre, before being caught themselves. Maestre soloed to victory in front of Valverde (Kelme) who won the sprint for second from a depleted bunch.

Heras is still leading overall from Garmendia (Coast) at 31 seconds and Perez, also Coast, third at 44 seconds.

Tomorrows downhill race is 180,1 kilometres from Llivia to Montcada I Reixac, starting at over 1,100 metres and finishing at 30, so expect a bunch gallop.
