Cipollini, “…Ready to Battle at Flanders ”

From Acqua & Sapone:

The leader of the World Cup, Mario Cipollini, held a press conference this afternoon in Belgium. The champion from Tuscany has said clearly he wants to assume the role of protagonist to the Tour of Flanders.

“My condition is good, and now I can ride to my full potential.” Cipollini explained. Over the past days I have carried out the hardest training in Tuscany where I have been able to improve my physical condition. Moreover, I have the morale to win and to make the difference, even if, we are not considered favorites for victory. However, I’m happy with the challenges and task so tomorrow I will give the maximum.

“Who are the main favorites? Sure Van Petegem, Musseuw and Michele Bartoli, they seem to me to be in the best shape.”

This morning Mario Cipollini put in 80 km on the bicycle (has tried in training 6 Walls) with Lombardi and Scirea, his team mates who tomorrow will be at his side as long as possible. “Most likely I will not run Paris-Roubaix: it’s a very difficult and dangerous race. My race program includes Aragon and Romandia, races in which I will have to change my preparation to regain the explosive force a sprinter needs for the Giro.” concludes Mario . After Flanders, Cipollini plans to take a look at the Wolrd Championship circuit in Zolder (Belgium), before returning to Tuscany.
