Tougher Regulations from the UCI

– Reported by Datasport.it –

The UCI has modified its regulations after the cases of the Giro d’Italia.

Doping has changed. A racer that is found positive at an antidoping control will be suspended from the race immediataly without waiting for the results from a counter analysis.

The decision was taken by the UCI, that has modified its regulations, effective immediately, following the episodes that characterized the Giro d’Italia.

The directive from the UCI has added to acticle 184 that now allows the antidoping commission, in stage races and world championships, to disqualify any rider who fails a dope test without waiting for the results from a second test.

The suspension does not exclude the possibility of other sanctions and will be applicable in positive cases that are caused by substances that are performance enhancing.
