Edo Wins Sprint at Castilla

Sprinter Angel Edo of the Portugese Milaneza Team won today’s stage of teh Vuelta a Castilla e Leon…

To-day’s second stage of the tour of Castilla and Leуn was enlivened by Anthony Charteau (Bonjour) and Ondrej Fadrny (De Nardi) who gained 2 minutes 35 seconds at 40 kilometres to the finish in Valladolid. The race started in cold windy conditions, which did not help the brave two, with the tall, ginger Czech, Fadrny, doing the lions share of the work, their lead was whittled down first by the overall leaders team, Herrero (Euskaltel) then the portugese team Milaneza for their sprinter Angel Edo. The two were caught within the last 8 kms, with Milaneza still on the front, Edo easily took the sprint from his team mate Cardoso and the leader Herrero third.

Tomorrow is a stage for the sprinters, a flattish course of 177 kilometres from Valladolid to San Andres de Rabanedo, so you can expect Angel Edo to be up there again.

Overall: 1st. Herrero

2nd. Cardoso at 3 secs.

3rd. Gil at 5 secs.
