GERT-JAN THEUNISSE HOLDS A PRO LICENSE
I’m always amazed how the hard men of the sport of cycling bounce back as if hurdles only seem to make champs from other sport start their BBQ grill company or what not. 1989 polka dot jersey wearing Gert Jan announces his comeback at Netherlands’ National ATB Championship. (I remember Gert-jan at the Cactus Cup in 1997, working with Specialized , and being astounded at the changes in his physical appearnce from his days as a roadie. He had morphed into somehting resembling an Olympic sprinter – huge muscles, puffed-up head – yikes! Sure didn’t look like these were the results of a “Wheaties-only” diet…- ed.)
