Euskal Bizikleta: Stage 4

Miguel Angel Martin Perdiguero, the Spaniard who rides for Acqua & Sapone won the sprint in front of a group of 69 riders in to-days stage of the Bicicleta Vasca, second was David Etxebarria of Euskatel and third Elminger (Phonak). they covered a distance of 185.3 kilometres in a time of 4 hours 36 minutes 6 seconds. World champ, Oscar Freire was 5th.

Perdiguero was reported as saying: “It has been a great victory. I was looking for win this stage. The team has been perfect in the final and I got a wonderful lead from Gentili who protected me until the last metres”.
This is his 3rd victory this year.

The overall is still the same with Zarrabeitia (ONCE) leading, Pospyeyev at 4 seconds and Gomez (Kelme) at 9 seconds. Tomorrows stages are an easy 93.7 kilometres in the morning from Agurain to Mendaro to warm them up for the 21.3 time trial round Mendaro, with one hill, in the afternoon.
