Team Coast’s Fabrizio Guidi won today’s 17th edition of the 33km Firenze-Pistoia individual TT. Guidi beat Francesco Casagrande by 17″. Guidi said the win was unexpected, but he was happy to capitalize on his good form following the Worlds. He went on to say…

Guidi: “I didn’t come here looking for the victory but…as I told to my team mates, my condition is very good at the moment. I’m afraid to didn’t have this condition one month ago, before the World Championship, because I was looking for a national jersey. Next year I’ll run again with Team Coast, and I’d like to run the Giro d’Italia. But the team will be at the start also of Tour de France, so perhaps my program will be Giro and

Casagrande: “I came to win this race for the 3rd time, but…in my road I found Guidi with a better condition than mine. I’m glad to finish this season in this way with
Fassa. I did a big Lombardia and helped Michele (Bartoli) to win it. Next year I’ll be at Lampre, and I’m happy to see them glad for my arrival. Saronni and Algeri are building a team around me, to try to win the Giro d’Italia”.
