The cyclist form Mapei has been heard by the president of the Disciplinary House of Lugano.

A decision on the doping case that see the accused Stefano Garzelli will be made known around the 22nd of July. The cyclist of the Mapei-Quick Step squad, having given a positive result for Probenecid (a diuretic) during the Giro d‚Italia, presented himself Monday in front of the president of the Disciplinary House of Lugano.

The racer could have explained the positive as a result of food that had been contaminated by medicine.

Garzelli, 28 years old, tested positive after his victory on the second stage of the corsa rosa, May 13 in Ans, Belgium. The winner of the 2000 Giro was expelled from the race on the evening of May 21st after the result of the counter analysis.
