Matveyev still leader in France
Sergey Matveyev is still the leader at the Circuit des Mines, little tour in France. Today he controlled the escape of 7 riders, in the 4th stage, 152 kms. Winner Bo Petersen at the sprint. Matveyev has 11” on Cancellara and 19” on Newton.

Casagrande Thinks Pink
After his second victory at the Giro del Trentino, he is one of the favourites.
“Physically I’m fine, and I showed I’m pedalling fast. I’m more secure because I kept in a so difficult race with many hills. And I won the most difficult stage. The others rivals? Simoni and Garzelli”.

Bartoli Drinks In Amstel
Bartoli touched for the victory at Amstel Gold Race. He dedicated his victory to his wife Alessandra and to his son which will arrives soon. “It’s very much time which I’m looking for an important victory, and I think I merit it. This race repays me for all my sacrificies”
A victory which repays also the Fassa’s team manager, Giancarlo Ferretti, the iron sergent.
“I was sure which Bartoli coulded return the winner of time ago. What did I say to him when I went near him? I saw which him and Ivanov were spending too much, and I said them to be more quite, because they were the most fast at the sprint. What didn’t we have for win Sanremo, Flanders and Liegi? An Ivanov which finally runs fast and a Bartoli which did an feat. They were our captains with Basso”.
And now there is the Giro d’Italia and the “warrior” Bartoli says “I will go for help Francesco (Casagrande)”.

Perez Cuapio and his Giro
“I start to win many mountains stages, but if it will be possible, I will also think of the overall ranking”. That’s what the Mexican rider of Panaria, 25 years old, says. He finished 2nd behind Casagrande at last Giro del Trentino.
This winter he’s trained a lot in the gym for more power with my trainer David Morelli, and with specific work on long hills of 6-7 kms. Morelli on the car, and me behind doing 100-105 rpm”.
“I’m a climber, and I can do the different rhythms, and that’s what I train. I learned also how to do the downhill: Morelli taught me where and how brake. Reverberi taught me to stay more calm in the race. Now I’m more sure of my self, and my rivals will see”.

Pantani – The Doping Saga
Pantani has been heard today for 1 hour at the anti doping section of Italy, about the blitz at Giro 2001. “I’m sure that the substances found in my room weren’t mine, and so I’m calm”.
“I’m trying to return to winning so perhaps someone is trying to block me. I will go to Giro d’Italia to win. In this time I lost some sponsors, but if before I tried to make my results for money, now it’s a story of principles. I don’t want to stop cycling: I spent a lot of energy on this story which I should have used to train”.
He talks also to Berlusconi, the Italian premiere: “I hope he will see our world of cycling, and how we are treated. It isn’t right all this fury on our sport”.
