Lampre’s Vuelta Team
Like most teams, Lampre’s Vuelta squad more closely resembles their Giro line-up than their Tour line-up. Obviously without Tour #3 finisher Rumsas, their team looks like this…
– The third big stage-race of the season is opening officially on Saturday, 7 September in Valencia with a 30-km TTT.
– After Garate took 4th and Tonkov 5th in the Giro d’Italia, and Rumsas got up to the 3rd step of the podium in Tour de France, our team wants to repeat a good performance.
-“The rider for Vuelta a Espaсa are the same than raced Giro d’Italia,”team manager Maurizio Piovani explains us.
– “The only difference will be the presence of Jan Svorada who will be our sprinter like in Tour de France. Before the Vuelta, like all the big stage-races, we can’t say how things will go on for Lampre-Daikin riders.
– The last participation of Pavel Tonkov in this race was in 2000 when he took 3rd. Juan Manuel Garate clinched his first win as a pro last year in Vinarтs. Moreover, Mariano Piccoli and Jan Svorada won some important stages. I consider all these results and believe that we can perform well this year too.”
-General manager Giuseppe Saronni, agreeing with Lampre-Daikin technicians, communicates the names of the riders for the 57th Vuelta a Espaсa.
