Murcia: Llorente Still In Overall Lead, But The Big Guns Move Up
Group of four away, last climb of the day, 1 minute 20 seconds up, two Rabobank riders in the front group, got it sewn up? Do the old one-two? Take the stage and overall? NO, blow it and lose the lot!!!
Victor Hugo Peсa (USP) was on the last climb of the day on stage 4, the Alto de La Santa, with him were Jan Hruska (ONCE) and the two Rabobank riders, Andy Engels and American hope, Levi Leipheimer, they were 1 minute 20 seconds up on the main bunch.
Time for the old Rabobank one-two, Engels goes up the road, Liefhimer sits on, then jumps them when they catch Engels. Well that looked like the plan, Engels went up the road, Leipheimer lost 2 minutes 18 seconds, Peсa won the stage and Hruska moved into second overall, he would have taken the jersey if Javier Pascual Llorente (Kelme) had’nt put up a bold chase behind.
On the other hand young Andy Engels nearly won the stage, and looks like a real hope for the future.
Hruska is now only 10 seconds behind Pascual Llorente, with sunday’s time trial of 12.9 kilometres on flat roads he could do it.
