MAPEI
After his victory in yesterday’s Giro della Proivincia Lucca, Paolo Bettini said: “the victory means that my form is really good. Today I didn’t race to have one more day to relax for Paris – Tours. My main objective Sunday it will be arrive ahead of Museeuw, without taking any risks. If I will be able to have more luck, I will be happier. But my objectives are the World Cup and the World Championship”. Bettini leads the World Cup chase with 272 points over Museeuw’s 270.

Yesterday Freire didn’t start at the Giro della Provincia di Lucca due to a little problem at one knee. He is 11th overall in theWorld Cup chase with 96 points

This is the team for the Paris – Tours:
Riders: Paolo Bettini, Davide Bramati, Aurйlien Clerc, Oscar Freire, Pedro Horrillo, Kevin Hulsmans, Daniele Nardello, Luca Paolini

Miguel Martinez next year will go to Phonak. He got offers from Cofidis and Ibanesto.com, but the Swiss team won on them. This year he finished 44th overall in the Tour de France at 1h18’42” from Lance Armstrong.

LAMPRE
The team will be a mix of riders coming back from Vuelta a Espaсa, like Spruch and Svorada, and some others who partook in the stage race Giro della Provincia di Lucca.
– Some of them will take part in the World’s that will be on home turf for Dierckxsens.
-“I believe that our team will perform well,” team manager Maurizio Piovani has said.
“My riders can enter any break and will show themselves during the race”.
That’s the right race both for long-distance riders and sprinters, who can put the winning spurt on the finish line, or riders like Virenque and Tafi, who are able to win after breaking from far.
Zbigniew Spruch was the best Lampre-Daikin rider ending the race in 2001. He ranked in 10th, at 2’ behind Virenque.

This year’s race will start in Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines on Sunday, 6 October at 11.10 a.m. and it will end in Avenue de Grammont in Tours after a 257-km route.
-Unluckily, Jan Svorada has been forced to give up Paris-Tours because of flu. As the rider will partake in the upcoming World Championships in Zolder, team manager Maurizio Piovani thinks that he’d better to recover completely. Mariano Piccoli will substitute him
General manager Giuseppe Saronni, in agreement with Lampre-Daikin technicians, communicates the names of the riders that he has convoked for the 96th edition of Paris-Tours (the nine World Cup event).
– Rubens Bertogliati
– Alessandro Cortinovis
– Ludo Dierckxsens

– Marco Serpellini
– Zbigniew Spruch
– Mariano Piccoli

SAECO
Four national team riders for the world championships and the Italian national champion will represent Saeco-Longoni Sport at Paris-Tours, the penultimate round of the 2002 World Cup.
Naturally everybody will be watching the riders selected for the world championships in Zolder.
The Saeco team leader will be Spaniard Igor Astarloa one of the revelations of this year’s World Cup competition. He will be looking for another good result to defend his third place overall in the world Cup standings which he obtained thanks to great rides in the HEW Cyclassics Cup in Hamburg and the Clasica San Sebastian in Spain.
Along with Astarloa, Directuer sportif Guido Bontempi will also have Italian team member Fabio Sacchi, Lithuanian Marius Sabaliauskas, Austrian Gerrit Glomser, Italian champion Salvatore Commesso, Cristian Pepoli and Joerg Ludewig.
However Danilo Di Luca will not take part in Paris-Tours. After a lot of racing this month, he has decided to rest up and fine-tune his preparation ready for Zolder.

TACCONI SPORT
Tacconi sport will run with: Paolo Bossoni, Diego Ferrari, Mauro Gerosa, Andrei Hauptman, Nicola Minali, Marco Gili, Dario Frigo and Gianluca Bortolami.
