Payback Time For Armstrong
It’s a bit strange see Lance Armstrong on the race list of Tour of Flanders. And it’s more surprising that he will be also ride another classic of North, the Gent-Wevelgem.
Especially to everybody who thought which Armstrong is only a man for the Tour de France. But the truth is another matter. The truth is he wants to make good on promises to his teammates.
These promises date back to last year’s Tour de France, in the Champs Elysee. Armstrong said he would repay everybody who sacrificed personal victory to help him. And now he is ready to keep these promises and ride for George Hincapie, US Postal’s designated leader for the Classics.
And even if Armstrong isn’t in his best condition, he knows how to “read” the race, and he can be a great support. Even his own form is looking very good, with a 2nd place finish in last weekend’s Criterium International. His weight now isn’t really far from last year in July, and maybe he will have a great performance before his “time”, which usually arrives around the Amstel Gold Race.
