Piepoli Takes Lead At Aragon

Piepoli, the first leader of the Vuelta Ciclista a Aragon.

The Italian rider Leonardo Piepoli (i banesto.com) won to-day’s stage of the 39th Tour of Aragon, the stage started from Huesca and finished in the ski station of Cerler, 152 kilometres, 3 hours 51 minutes 14 seconds later.

Piepoli finished on his own to become the first leader, 2nd. at 29 seconds was last years winner, Juan Carlos Dominguez (Phonak) and third was the Kasak Alexander Shefer (Alessio). Come-back man David Millar was 29th. at 1min 32 secs.

Tomorrow’s stage is from Benasque to Barbastro (153 kms). Two first cat. and one each 2nd. & 3rd. cat climbs on a fairly hard day that is mostly down hill.
