Quaranta Prepares to Restart his Season

– Reported by Datasport.it –
The sprinter from Index Alexia will return at the Tour of Switzerland on June 12.

One of the biggest disillusionments of the Giro d’Italia was surely Ivan Quaranta, the Leopard of Cremasco. The 28 year old sprinter from Index Alexia was forced to retire during the stage to Chieti due to a high fever, after beginning the Giro with one problem after another. An inflammation of the knee in February and a broken wrist in March had left his out of racing for most of the season. Quaranta had in fact only race the Tour of Qatar, in which he won a stage, the Giro del Trentino and half of the Giro d’Italia, but now the sprinter from Lombardy seems ready to return to racing: the appointment is set for June 12 when he will take to the roads of the Tour of Switzerland, a five day stage race. He will then design his program for the rest of the season. Index Alexia was not invited to the Tour de France but could go to the Vuelta, to contest the overall with Paolo Savoldelli, and Quaranta on the Iberian peninsula could win some stages and then earn a spot on the Italian team for the Worlds in Zolder.
