What's Cool In Road Cycling

Race Preview: Tour de Langkawi

Today debuts another PEZ-clusive look at the pro race scene – this time as daily race coverage of the Tour of Langkawi – from inside the peloton! We’re stoked to team up with FLANDERS-ITEAMNOVA.COM to bring you coverage of a race from this very different perspective. Our man on the scene, well actually, in the bunch – will be Australian pro Allan Iacuone – the name sounds Italian, but he speaks with a definite Aussie-twang!

For those of you just waking from a deep winter slumber – the Telekom Malaysia Tour de Langkawi 2003 (official name) is a 10 day 10 stage UCI 2.2 race that covers 1343km and attracts a surprsing number of Div 1, 2, and National teams – 20 in all. It’s summer down under, so the weather is hot and humid. The route covers most of the tropical island of Malaysia, and includes mostly flat stages, but a couple with some nasty climbs tossed in – like Stage 9 that features a 48 km grunt from sea level to over 1700 metres!
