What's Cool In Road Cycling

Spaniard Leads Germany

Garmendia leads Tour of Germany.

The Spaniard Aitor Garmendia (COAST) replaced Erik Zabel as leader of the Tour of Germany to-day after winning the third stage (192 kms) between Buehlerta and Schonach.

Garmendia’s advantage at line was 22 seconds in front of Gonzбlez de Galdeano (ONCE) and 42 before Frenchman Brochard (Delatour) in third position. Thanks to the Spaniards victory he took the leaders jersey from Zabel, who had won the first two stages.

Tomorrow is a 36 kilometre time trial, which will be crucial for the final out-come of the race, this should suit Garmendia as he is a bit of a specialist against the clock.
