The 36 year old Italian, Andrea Tafi, now with Mapei, has signed a one year contract with CSC-Tiscali it was confirmed by Bjarne Riis. Also Andrea Peron & Damiano Cunego have extended there contracts by 2 years with CSC & Saeco. Paolo Fornaciari (Mapei) has signed for Saeco for next season.

The UCI have announced the ammount of riders each country will have for the worlds road race on October 13th. Spain has 12 + Freire, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, USA, Holland, Swiss, Australia & Russia have 12. Great Britain 2, Canada 0.

The winner of the last Giro d’Italia, Paolo Savoldelli is now free to move from his present team, Index Alexia. Top of the list at the moment seems the leaderless Telekom.

Francesco Casagrande (Fassa Bortolo), now maybe going to ibanesto.com, but he has said he will make up his mind after the Tour of Spain. He said it will be a sporting and financial decision.
