IBANESTO WINS FOUR
Four victories for ibanesto.com. The Polish rider Dariusz Baranowski has achieved the 4th. victory in tours by his team, ibanesto.com in the last 30 days. Mercado in the Setmana Catalana; Aitor Osa in the Pais Basco; Leonardo Piepoli in Aragon; & now Baranowski in the GP Mitsubishi in Portugal. The team also won the team time trial on the 3rd. stage, 11.3 kilometres in 12 minutes 47 seconds, and just to top it off, the Pole won the last stage for good measure.

ANDALUCIAN TEAM FOR 2003
A new elite UCI team will see light in 2003. The Governing committee in Andalucia (Southern Spain Region) has announced that they wish to have a team next year. The team would have 18 riders and would be run along the lines of the Euskadi team. It would be hoped it would promote tourism in the region, Andaluzia will be joining Costa Blanca (Kelme), Costa Almeria (Jazztel) & of coarse Euskadi (Euskatel) all local government subsidised teams.

GOOD-BYE GALICIA
The organisers of the Tour of Galicia (north west Spain) have been unable to find enough money to stage this year’s event. Unipublic who are also the organisers of the tour of Spain, announced that no Galician sponsor could be found and they have not reached the minimum nessesary to have a credible sporting existence in Galicia.

ANGEL’S DEVIL
Angel Casero will now definitely not start the Giro de Italia, the Valencian rider retired from the Tour of Lower Saxony last week, because the pain in his knee was very bad, since then he has had an internal examination by Dr.Cugat in Barcelona. Coast has not yet received a wild card invitation to the Tour de France, but Casero is now aiming exclusively at the Vuelta de Espaсa.

DOMO-FARM FRITES OVERDONE FOR GIRO
The Italian team Colpack-Astro will substitute for the Belgian team Domo-Farm Frites at the up and coming Giro de Italia, starting on the 11th of May in the Dutch town of Groningen. Why they will not compete, ”various problems with riders”.

ONE OF OUR OWN… LOST
The Dutch ex-professional, Marc Siemons, died last week of skin cancer, he was only 35 years old and had ridden for TVM in the 90`s.

MAPEI LUCKY #600
Gianpaolo Cheula who rides for Mapei in Division 3, recorded the teams 600th victory, the first in the trophy Melinda in 1993 and Cheulas was in the first stage of the Circuit of the Mines a 2.5 event in France.

RENAULT RENEW!
Renault have announced they will co-sponsor Team Coast, the official presentation will be on the 8th of May when they will reveal plans to make a special series of the model Twingo in the teams name and colours.

SUPER U RENEW?
Rumours from France are that Super U will replace Bonjour as team sponsor for next year. Last time they were in sponsorship, in the 80’s they were very succesful with Laurent Fignon, the connection comes from Director Sportif Jean-Renи Bernaudeau, who also runs the Elite team Vendйe U.
