French Press Vote Spanish as Biggest Threat.

The French newspapers have all said that the Spanish riders in the Tour de France will be the principle enemies of Lance Armstrong. Igor Gonzбlez de Galdeano, Joseba Beloki (3rd. in the last two tours),Oscar Savilla,Saniago Botero (COL),Francisco Mancebo & Unai Osa being most favourite.

Euskaltel, with Spanish Flags on Their Numbers.

A petition from the team Euskaltel-Euskadi was presented to Tour organisers asking that their Basque riders have Basque flags on their race numbers, instead of Spanish, where will it all end? David Millar with a Scottish flag?

Seven National Champs in Tour.

From the 189 riders in the 21 teams there is seven National Champions jerseys on show in the Tour. Vogondy (FRA-FDJ), Steels (BEL-MAP), Hondo (GER-TEL), Sandstod (DEN-CSC), McEwen (AUS-LOT), Kirsipuu (EST-AG2R), Belohvosciks (LIT-LAM) and World Champ Oscar Freire of Spain, also on show.

The Spanish rider Santiago Pйrez (Kelme) is the rider in the Tour with lowest resting heartbeat, 33 beats per minute. The tallest Flickinger is 1,93 metres, the shortest is Martinez & David Etxebarria at 1,63, the fatest is Serpellini 87 kgs, thinnest, Russian Botcharov is only 55,4 kgs. The Italian Guerini has the most lung capacity at 8,69 litres. The ”Mr. Average” in the Tour is 1,79m tall, 73,7 kgs, lung capacity of 6,62 litres, resting heart at 52 and a blood pressure of 11,5/6,5.

28 Aspirants for the Best Youngster.

Scot, David Millar is the oldest of the young riders with his date of birth being 4th. of January 1977. Of the 28 under 25’s, eight of them are Spanish trying to make it three years in a row for a Spanish white jersey.
