Americans @ the 2004 Tour de France Website Launches – Will Provide Information for Americans Going to the Tour and Allow Them to Contribute Information

November 7, 2003, Washington, DC – The Americans @ the 2004 Tour de France website (www.TDFamericans.us) has been launched to provide information for those planning to attend the 2004 Tour de France and to enable Americans to meet up with each other and support their favorite riders at the Tour. Americans @ the 2004 Tour de France was developed and created by Holly Marie of Washington, DC who decided to go to the 2004 Tour and found searching for Tour information was frustrating and time consuming. “There was a lot of information available via the Internet but it was scattered on a hundred different websites so I decided to collect it all in one place,” said Marie.

Marie also created the website to support the U.S. cycling community. “I have seen the interest in cycling increase after both Greg LeMond’s and Lance Armstrong’s Tour de France victories. The 2003 Tour was one of the most exciting Tours in years and I believe it piqued more Americans’ interest in cycling than ever. I now want to help get more Americans to support U.S. cycling, its teams and riders”, said Marie.

The Americans @ the 2004 Tour de France website includes information on tour tips, race viewing, tour route and towns, tour diaries, lodging, riding, transportation, tour information, food, tour groups, local sites to see, a message board and related links. Much of the information has been submitted by people who have been to previous tours and want to share their adventures and advice and mishaps to avoid. Marie hopes that more people will contribute information to the website and that the site will provide information for years to come.

Marie, an avid cycling fan and U.S. cycling supporter since the early 1990’s has been to the Tour de Trump, Tour Dupont, CoreStates U.S. Pro Race, U.S. Olympic Track Trails, U.S. Olympics (road race), Vuelta A Espana and Kent Tour of China either as a spectator or working for EPSN, NBC Super Channel, Saturn Corporation or WCAU-TV (Philadelphia, PA). In addition, she produced a documentary on bicycle racing in the U.S. in 1992 which was used by Dupont officials to learn more about professional bike racing during their sponsorship of the Tour Dupont.
