What's Cool In Road Cycling

Vuelta a Castilla y Leуn – Monday

To-days stage of the Vuelta a Castilla y Leуn started in very cold, wet & windy conditions, and those riders who had nothing to prove, over the 148 kilometres, went for ”the early bath” so to speak. No point in riding in these conditions when there’s a full season to come…..etc…etc….

With 7 kilometres to the finish the race was in two groups 47 seconds apart, the front with anyone who was anyone, had ibanesto.com, Milaneza, ONCE & Kelme keeping them 2 kms faster than the back group who had the small teams of De-Nardi, Boavista & CCC trying their hardest. The team of sprinter Angel Edo, Milaneza, kept it fast and together to the line in Benaventa, a perfect lead out gave him his second stage victory by two bike lengths from Markov (ITERA) and Torrent (Jazztel) in 3rd.

The young Juan Miguel Mercado (ibanesto.com) held on to his 26 second lead over Joan Horrach of Milaneza for the overall.
