Josй Luis Arrieta is keeping up ibanesto.com’s good record by winning the first stage of the 46th. Vuelta Ciclista a Asturias, contested between Oviedo & Llanes a distance of 156 kilometres. He also took the leaders jersey in this his first win of his career since turning professional for Banesto in 1993.

Tomorrow’s stage goes from Llanes to Gijуn a distance of 165 kilometres with two 2nd. cat. climbs, the first at 88 kms and the second at 150, also a 3rd. cat between them at 106 kms. This last climb the San Martin de Huerces, is very hard and its proximity to the finish will bring the favourites to the top of the general classification.
