Zabel Storms Holland Stage 1

– Reported by CSC-Tiscali –

The Tour of Holland’s first stage of 220 km from Utrecht to Leeuwarden ended with the expected sprint. Telekom’s Erik Zabel was quickest and CSC Tiscali’s best man, Julian Dean, finished down in 20th spot.

“I have never seen so many good sprinters in the peloton at the same time. Julian Dean will have ample opportunity to test his ability in the coming days. It will suit us well if the peloton is kept together until the time trial on Friday. If that happens and Tyler Hamilton does a good time he will then move to the front of the general classification,” said directeur sportif, Christian Andersen after the first stage of the Tour of Holland (UCI 2.1).

Results Stage 1:

3. Lars Bak (Den-Eds) s.t.
4. Jans Koerts (Ned-Dff) @0:06
5. Victor H.Pena Grisales (Col-Usp) s.t.
