2014 Road Development Race Series Announced

USA Cycling on Wednesday announced the 2014 Road Development Race Series (RDRS).

Designed to promote high-quality racing opportunities for young cyclists, the RDRS strives to develop long-term partnerships with race organizers who will create safe and fun racing opportunities for junior and espoir-aged men and women.

The 2014 edition of the RDRS begins with the Valley of the Sun Stage Race in Phoenix on Feb. 21-23. Many more races will be added through the summer and into September, so check the calendar page frequently for the most up-to-date schedule of races.

This marks the 22nd consecutive year USA Cycling has worked with race directors to create a junior development series of road races. With the aim of increasing the quantity and quality of road racing opportunities for young, USA Cycling-licensed riders in the United States, the RDRS also aims to identify and recognize potential world-class cycling talent at the junior level.

The series acts as a possible entry point to USA Cycling’s Athlete Development Pathway. This pathway provides riders with a road map to follow from beginning racing experiences through training camps to international competition. Top finishers at races in both series will have the opportunity to qualify for one of USA Cycling’s Regional Talent ID Camps.

Race directors interested in including their event on the RDRS should contact National Events Director Tony Leko at [email protected].
