2014 Tour de Mon Date Change

It has been announced today that the 2014 Tour de Mon – Anglesey cycle sportive has been changed to Sunday 17th August. This change has been made toensure that the sportive includes it’s infamous sprint stage entitled the ‘Flying Mile’. The Flying Mile gives cyclists the opportunity to race against the clock for a perfectly straight, uninterrupted mile along the runway at RAF Valley. After the success of the 2013 event the event organisers, Always Aim High Events, wanted to ensure that riders of the 2014 sportive would get the same incredible experience.

The Tour de Mon sets off from Newry Beach in Holyhead and 2014 is the second time the event will take place. After the incredibly successful first year event in 2013 where over 1000 took part the 2014 event is set to be unmissable.

Regarding the change of date of the sportive Always Aim High Event’s Manager, Rob Samuel, made the following announcement:

“Unfortunately we have had to move the date of the 2014 Tour de Mon Cycle Sportive to Sunday 17th August, two weeks earlier than originally planned.

This is due to circumstances completely out our control as RAF Valley could no longer accommodate the “Flying Mile” section of the event on 31st August. We think you’ll agree that the “Flying Mile” is a fantastic and unique aspect of the event and therefore the date change has been made to ensure that participants get the best experience possible, whilst having the opportunity to fly down the runway in what has got to be one of the most iconic elements of any sportive in the UK.

We hope you can still join us on the revised date of Sunday 17th August for what is going to be yet another fantastic event.”

If you’ve already entered the event you will have already received an email from Always Aim High Events.

If you have any questions or would like more information contact the Always Aim High Events team on [email protected] or 01286 685482.”
