A combative line-up to tackle Trofeo Matteotti

More than Tour de Pologne and Six Days of Fiorenzuola over the weekend for Team Colombia. A 8-man line-up, guided by Oscar Pellicioli, will take part in the 67th edition of Trofeo Matteotti (July 28th), Italian semi-classic race.

The hills near Pescara, Central Italy, will be the setting for a course suited to the characteristics of riders with strong climbing skills and competitive in reduced bunch sprints. Also in 2013, the route will feature 13 laps of a 15 km circuit, totally 195 km, with no major climbs but almost no flat sections: the riders’ legs will feel the effort as the day goes on.

Colombia’s climbers will try to get in the mix in breaks with their combative mood in an attempt to anticipate the sprinters. Jarlinson Pantano will lead the line-up, sided by Dalivier Ospina, Michael Rodriguez, Juan Pablo Suarez, Alexis Camacho, Wilson Marentes, Juan Pablo Valencia and Marco Corti.

“The route is undulating, and suited to the characteristics of riders like Pantano, Rodriguez and Valencia”, Sports Director Oscar Pellicioli. “The biggest obstacle might be the heat over the weekend. However, we are motivated to follow up the good work we made in the last few weeks. Suarez and Marentes make their way back to European racing after training in Colombia, and they will look to exploit their good condition right away.”
