Angkor Wat Bike4Kids! Registration Officially Opens
Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Cyclists from all over the world are invited to sign up to the Angkor Wat Bike4Kids! Event presented by Village Focus International and Terre des Hommes – Netherlands. Entering its eighth year, the annual charity fundraising event will take place on Saturday 30th November 2013 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The Angkor Wat Bike4Kids! Event encourages participants of all ages and fitness levels to cycle through the beautiful temple complex of Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to help raise funds for local charities providing life-changing work supporting vulnerable children and sex trafficked victims.
Since the event began in 2006, it has grown each year and raised a total of US$150,000 in net proceeds towards empowering women and children. This year’s net proceeds will support Village Focus International and Terre des Hommes – Netherlands’ cause partners: the Cambodian Center for the Protection of Children’s Rights; The Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center; Action Pour les Enfants; Il Nodo’s My Own Hands Social Design project; and Il Nodo’s Helping Children Living with Parents in Prison project.
Rick Reece, Director at Village Focus International said, “the Angkor Wat Bike4Kids! Event offers bikers from around the world to join in solidarity to ride on the Angkor roads through forest, rice fields and the magnificent ancient temple complex. The roads are relatively car-free in the early morning hours and we encourage friends and families to cycle together and unite for a special cause.”
Village Focus International and Terre des Hommes – Netherlands hope the Angkor Wat Bike4Kids! Event 2013 will be its biggest yet this year and are aiming to raise over US$60,000 (net proceeds) and beat previous participation figures.
