What's Cool In Road Cycling

I am really excited for my new role in the team because I was with my previous team for six years. It was really good but I also felt like I needed a new challenge and now I feel refreshed going into a new season with a new team and it gives me a new energy. I’m looking forward to meeting the new people and the new structure, which is looking really good so far.

Last week I spent some days in Mallorca chasing the sun. I have a friend who moved there and he invited me. He is an amateur cyclist so I could go on the road with him and he could show me around and introduce me to other cyclists so it was really good.

It was good to escape the bad weather and before that I was in Florida with the Dutch National Federation, which was good with nice big roads so I’ve missed most of the bad weather this winter. After Mallorca I went home for five days to recover and see friends again before going back to the sunshine. I think it’s good to go away for 10 days training then go home to rest. Today I arrived for our first training camp in Fuerteventura to meet all my teammates and staff and the day has been great already.

Last season I didn’t come into the year so well because I was still recovering from an operation in November but this time round I have had a really good winter so I think it will be good for me to make a goal of the Spring classics. I will start in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and I might not be in top shape at the first race but the big thing on my mind is the Tour of Flanders. Before that we’ll do a number of World Cups which the team will hope to do well in. Strade Bianche is always new for us so it would be an interesting experience and looking forward to it.

We will be revealing out beautiful new kit for 2015 here from the training camp so make sure all your friends are subscribed to this newsletter as we will be sharing it with fans first.
