What's Cool In Road Cycling

Annual Cycling Classic Returns to Arlington this June

The Air Force Association Cycling Classic, presented by Boeing, returns to Arlington, Va., June 11-12, 2016. In its 19th year, the Washington, D.C. area’s premier cycling event features professional and amateur races, challenge rides, and kids races. The weekend’s festivities are open to all cycling enthusiasts.

“For nearly two decades, the Air Force Association Cycling Classic has honored the servicemen and woman who have dedicated their lives to protecting our nation,” said Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing chairman, president and CEO, and race participant. “Boeing’s partnership with the U.S. military dates back nearly 100 years, and we are tremendously proud to continue supporting our Air Force customer and the courageous veterans and families who benefit from this worthwhile event.”

Activities include pro races for qualified professionals as part of the prestigious USA Cycling Professional Road Tour, the Challenge Ride, a non-competitive ride for cycling enthusiasts of all abilities, the Navy Federal Credit Union Armed Forces Challenge, the USAA Congressional Challenge featuring Republican and Democrat Capitol Hill staffers competing for top honors, kids races in both Clarendon and Crystal City, Va., and more.

The Air Force Association’s Wounded Airman Program is the primary beneficiary of the event, receiving proceeds from pledges made by Team Sabre and from additional fundraising activities throughout the weekend. The Wounded Airman Program supports wounded, ill and injured Airmen with adaptive equipment needs, financial support, and care and quality of life items.
