Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia Broadens its Borders
Colombian Eduardo Estrada welcomed on board
Area Zero D’Amico-Bottecchia is pleased to officially announce the arrival of Colombian Eduardo Estrada to the team, which makes him the twelfth rider on the team’s roster for the 2015 season. Eduardo Estrada, born in 1995, is the second foreign rider to wear the Area Zero D’Amico-Bottecchia jersey, after Albanian Iltjian Nika, who already made his racing debut at the GP Izola on Sunday, March 1st.
“This year we’ve decided to expand our horizons, so we took a look abroad not only to develop the team’s international image but especially to find additions who could contribute to adding quality to our ranks,” explains team manager Ivan De Paolis. “Even in the 2015 season, Area Zero’s goal is to give young kids, whether they are Italian or foreign, a serious and responsible introduction to the world of the pros, trying to build solid bases as we also look to the future.”
“Since the Juniors, Iltjan Nika has won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Florence. At the Junior Panamerican Championships Estrada won 4 gold medals on the track, and with us he will have the chance to get to know better European cycling” continues De Paolis. “Last year our team was able to gain some important experience in South America, participating in the Vuelta a Colombia, where we won one stage and achieved some excellent results. Over the last several years, Colombian cycling is turning out to be a serious enterprise that’s enjoying continuous growth and is able to produce significant talents like Quintana, Uran, Betancur and Arredondo, all the way down to the baby phenomenon in the sprints, Gaviria.”
