Area Zero Pro Team: First Team Retreat in the Marche Comes to a Close

Area Zero Pro Team have wrapped up their first team retreat, which saw the entire squad busy training and working for the first time at the Cà Virginia country house in Borgo Massano, not far from Urbino in the Marche.

“This has been an important development opportunity, especially for people to get to know one another and to start laying the foundations for organizing the season,” explains team manager Ivan De Paolis. “At this stage, beyond mere physical training we have dedicated a lot of attention to group-building activities in order to solidify relationships between the technical staff and the riders.”

“In addition to the usual preliminary meetings with the team’s sports managers, athletic trainer and medical staff, we wanted to use new, more specific training activities,” explains second team manager Andrea Tonti, who will be guiding the flagship next to DS Massimo Codol. “In fact, the riders got the chance to work on basic techniques of mind training with our mental trainer Cristina Carraro, who will follow our guys throughout the season. The guys also worked with a pool of specialized professionals on aspects such as communicating a personal image as well as on what the team is trying to represent to the larger public. This is important because in modern cycling, in order to be true professionals you need to behave 100% professionally during training, in the lead-up to and even after the race, once you’re off your bike.”

Area Zero, whose heart and soul are intertwined in the Marche (their headquarters are in Ancona), participated in official engagements as well, making their very first public appearances. In fact, on Wednesday evening the team was welcomed by the deputy mayor of Urbino Lorenzo Testa, the organization committee for the Straducale, the most important cycling tourism event hosted in this territory, and by the Carlo Bo di Urbino University. On Wednesday the team also received a visit from Lino Secchi, President of the regional committee for the FCI in the Marche.

This first retreat was also a chance four the athletes to discover their Bottecchia Emme 2 bikes, the top of the line carbon frame bikes from Bottecchia’s racing division, which will be accompanying the riders from Area Zero Pro Team on roads all over the world as they take on this new adventure.
