What's Cool In Road Cycling

Avila and Duque in the frontline in French weekend

The Escarabajos are ready to tackle La Classic Sud-Ardèche and La Drôme Classic

After beginning February in France, at the Grand Prix La Marseillaise and the Étoile de Bessèges, Team Colombia-Coldeportes will return to the same country with a well-rounded squad, prepared and motivated to give it all in two one-day races: La Classic Sud-Ardèche (previously known as Les Boucles du Sud-Ardèche) – which will mark its 15th edition – and La Drôme Classic, a race created in 2014.

Double World Champion on the track in the points race, Edwin Avila will be part of Colombia-Coldeportes’ roster for the two 1.1 UCI events that will take place on February 28th, respectively March 1st, as well as 34-year-old Leonardo Duque, who knows very well the French cycling scene since his first seasons in Europe. Also in the team there will be Camilo Castiblanco, Jonathan Paredes, former national champion Walter Pedraza, Brayan Ramirez, Carlos Ramirez and Juan Pablo Valencia.

The 198-km-long Classic Sud-Ardèche starts and finishes in Ruoms, and has an undulating parcours, which is selective and can reduce the peloton to a 30-40 riders group. Things will be even more difficult one day later in the Drôme Classic (201 km), a race stacked with no less than categorized 15 climbs, including the Côte du Haut-Livron, just at the finish.
