BMC Development Team’s Ignazio Moser Third In Cascade Criterium

Ignazio Moser gave the BMC Development Team its best finish on a stage of the Bend Memorial Clinic Cascade Cycling Classic with third place in Saturday’s twilight criterium through the streets of Downtown Bend.

Eisenhart Still Best Young Rider
Moser said things might have been different had he not had to avoid a crash in the second-to-last corner on the final lap of the 75-minute race. “I had to brake a lot and almost stop,” he said. “So then I had to sprint just to get in the bunch and then sprint again to get to the first position and then sprint again for the win. I think I could have gotten something better if things had not gone like that.” United States Under 23 criterium champion Ty Magner (Hincapie Sportswear Development Cycling Team) took the win ahead of Jasper Stuyven (Bontrager Cycling Team) and Moser. BMC Development Team’s Jakub Novak finished 37th, in the same time, to remain third overall, nine seconds back of overall leader Serghei Tvetcov (Jelly Belly Cycling presented by Kenda). Teammate TJ Eisenhart was 30th and held onto his lead in the best young rider standings while sitting seventh overall, 39 seconds back. General Manager Rik Verbrugghe said the BMC Development Team is ready for Sunday’s final stage, a 133.5-kilometer circuit race. “It will not be easy to control,” he said. “It’s not a mountain stage, but it is not easy. It could be that a dangerous break goes to the finish. With us having two guys near the top of the general classification, we will see if we can get back the time to move them up.”
