Brabantse Pijl : Van Keirsbulck for the Final

On Wednesday Wanty-Groupe Gobert heads to Brabantse Pijl. Our team will be composed of some fresh puncheurs, complemented by some riders from the cobbled classics. This Belgian semi classic suited our team in the past with some podium spots for Björn Leukemans and a second place for Enrico Gasparotto last year. This year Hilaire Van der Schueren counts on Jérôme Baugnies, Wesley Kreder, Mark McNally, Xandro Meurisse, Dion Smith, Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, Pieter Vanspeybrouck and Frederik Veuchelen. Preview of the race by Hilaire Van der Schueren.

Hilaire Van der Schueren (sports director): “We have to evaluate the injuries and crashes in Paris-Roubaix. We’ll see what our riders can do on the course on Wednesday. We miss some guys like Pasqualon and Antonini who are out because of injury or illness. Those returning from altitude camp will ride Paris-Camembert on Tuesday. The pace will be a little less high over there.

But I still expect a strong, collective performance on Wednesday. We count on Baugnies and Meurisse, who is in good shape. We’ll have to see what our New-Zealandian Dion Smith can do in this race. Guillaume Van Keirsbulck will be protected the whole day by Wesley Kreder. I expect him in the final of the race.”
