Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York releases “GFNY Mag”, a magazine about all things Gran Fondo and Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York
The inaugural issue of GFNY Mag is the first edition of the magazine published not coinciding with the event.
New York, NY, September 24, 2013 – During its first three years from 2011 to 2013, Gran Fondo New York provided a “Rider Guide” to all event participants. From the start, the guide was more than just a how-to for race weekend, it was magazine that went beyond the race itself. Articles on training, nutrition and races around the world drew thousands of readers from around the world to the magazine.
“We love everything that comes with the lifestyle of true Gran Fondo events and we love sharing it. The natural consequence was to publish standalone magazines throughout the year in addition to the annual GFNY Rider Guide”, says Gran Fondo New York President Lidia Fluhme. “Three main factors make for a true Gran Fondo in the European tradition: road closures or police moderated intersections to provide riders the right of way, individual chip timing with ranking and a challenging course. A Gran Fondo is like a marathon but on bikes. As such, Gran Fondos provide a personal challenge that fills the gap between criterium racing and bike touring. And that’s what we talk about in GFNY Mag.”
The magazine articles in the inaugural issue of GFNY Mag are as widespread as are the riders from over 70 countries at GFNY. It kicks off with a 12-page article on GFNY 2013 written by Italian cycling expert Luca Neri of Bicisport. Rounding out the the Gran Fondo content are a story on Gran Fondo Straducale in Italy, Business on Bikes and the logistics behind a Gran Fondo. Charlie Issendorf explains why Gran Fondo riders should also race in Brooklyn, Hayden Judd showcases the cycling in the Catskills in upstate New York and readers can learn from NYC based designer Alex Ostroy what it takes to properly design a cycling kit.
Previous editions of GFNY’s online publications were read over 100,000 times, with an average read time of 12 minutes. The highest readership numbers, by country, in order: USA, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Sweden, Mexico, UK, Argentina, Germany, Colombia, Australia, Spain. The readership is in line with the international audience that the event reaches cyclists in over 70 countries. The magazine offers advertising space for sale.
