Denis Dmitriev on the World Championships’ podium
RusVelo rider Denis Dmitriev won the bronze medal sprint finals against the Australian Matthew Glaetzer in two rounds. Thus, the experienced Russian, a multiple European champion and a vice-champion of the World has brought up his major events medal tally to five.
Denis Dmitriev said: “I am very happy with my form; I was ready to fight for the top step of the podium, both physically and mentally. It’s a pity that I missed out on a realistic chance to win the rainbow jersey, but luck was on the French side in the semifinals. I the team sprint the medal was also within our reach, but we found ourselves just 0.024 away from third. Overall, the feelings are positive – I see now that I am capable of beating any of these guys. It gives me a great motivation to train even harder to finally make my dream come true”.
