What's Cool In Road Cycling

Dennis van Winden makes his comeback in Rund um Köln

Dennis van Winden will start his first race of the season Sunday. The Blanco Pro Cycling Team rider was out of the running for five months after an operation on a narrowed femoral artery developed complications but will now make his return to the peloton in the Rund Um Köln.

“Dennis has made a good impression on me recently”, said Sport Director Jeroen Blijlevens. “A few weeks ago, he was in training camp with the sprint train in Girona and rode very well. Of course he was not in racing form at the time but we are a few weeks further now and he is ready to ride. Dennis has only been back on the bike for a few weeks now so we not expecting the world from him, but we are very pleased that his name is back in the line-up.

Good feeling
In large part, the riders from the Blanco Pro Cycling Team that will start Sunday in the Cologne one day race are making a new start. Most of them are mounting up for the first time since the early season to race again. Blijlevens thinks that it is important that they take a positive experience away from the Rund um Köln. “For a lot of our riders, this race is the beginning of the second half of the season. For them, it is important that they pick up where they left off. The need to build confidence. We want to run an attractive race. If it plays out to a sprint, we want to play the Moreno Hofland card.
