Duarte and Rubiano to lead Team Colombia at San Luis

Team Colombia will approach its 2014 campaign outside Europe for the very first time: the South American outfit managed by Claudio Corti is getting ready to move its first steps into the new season at the Tour de San Luis (January 19th-26th).

The Argentinian stage race had an impressive improvement over the last few years, so that most of the big guns looking for the best shape will be at the start this year again. Throughout the San Luis region, the Escarabajos will have the opportunity to test their legs on demanding courses, including three uphill finishes in view of the first European races.

Sports Director Oscar Pellicioli will field a strong 6-man line-up: much expectation will be on Miguel Angel Rubiano, in his first race in a Team Colombia jersey, who will be looking to repeat his strong performances from the last two years, when he scored the overall seventh-place (2013) and grabbed the KOM jersey in 2012 edition.

On the other hand Fabio Duarte, about to become a father in a few days, will focus on climbs after working as hard as ever during winter to set up the new season. Sprinters hope to get their chances as well, with no exception for Edwin Avila and Leonardo Duque, winner of Trofeo Beghelli, the last race of 2013. Juan Pablo Valencia and track specialist Juan Esteban Arango will round out the line-up, the latter in preparation of the World Championships in Calì.
